Freedom Harness Sizing Chart and Measuring Instructions

To measure your dog for the Freedom No Pull Harness, take a soft measurement tape and measure all the way around the largest part of the chest, right behind the front legs.  Then, you can choose the *smallest* size that still fits your dog.  So for example, if your dog’s chest measurement is 28″ exactly, we still recommend that you choose the size Medium, as the front straps will be a better fit.

PS The 5/8″ Medium and 1″ Medium fits the same chest measurement range. If your dog’s average weight is 32lbs – 40lbs, choose the 5/8″ Medium. If your dog’s average weight is 40lbs – 60lbs, choose the 1″ Medium. ”

Which collar should I choose?

Martingale Collar

This type of collar slips over the head, there is no buckle to open or close. It is most often used for sighthounds (greyhounds, whippets, Borzoi, etc) because their heads are smaller than their neck and they can slip out of a traditional collar. However, it can be used for all breeds of dogs - just remember, if your dog has a big head, you will need to adjust it large enough to slip over the head, then adjust it to the correct size for the neck.

Side Release Buckle Collar

This is a traditional type of dog collar with a side release "snap" buckle that opens and closes. It is the easiest type of collar and what most people are familiar with. You just need to adjust it to the right size for your pup's neck, then put it around the neck and click the buckle closed.

Buckle Martingale Dog Collar

This is a hybrid of the 2 collars above and works well for dogs who have larger heads. It is better for large breeds than for small breeds because the buckle adds in bulk to the collar and offers less adjustability. But for dogs who need a martingale collar for training but have larger heads, this is a good option.

  You can wash it in the washing machine by placing the harness in a pillow case and using the gentle cycle OR place the harness in a sink filled with cold water and detergent.  Let it soak and rinse it well.  Always air dry your harness.

Start Here: Measure Your Dog’s Chest

Use a soft tape measure and wrap it around the widest part of your dog’s chest, just behind the front legs.

A Quick Note on Weight (Because Everyone Asks 😊)

Those weight ranges? They’re just guidelines. Dogs are built all kinds of ways—deep chests, slim builds, fluff for days—so chest measurement is always the most accurate way to get the right fit. If your dog is between sizes, we recommend choosing the size where their measurement falls comfortably in the middle of the range.

Fit Tips for Better Walks

• The chest strap should sit right behind the front legs
• You should be able to fit two fingers under the straps
• Snug, not tight—your dog should move freely and comfortably

The Freedom No-Pull Harness is designed to improve communication between you and your dog—without choking, pinching, or relying on pain. Instead of creating a tug-of-war, the Freedom Harness helps guide your dog’s movement more naturally for calmer, more comfortable walks.

What Your Dog Feels

The patented martingale loop on the back of the harness tightens gently when your dog pulls, applying soft pressure around the chest—similar to a calming “hug.” The front connection helps redirect your dog’s chest and shoulders back toward you instead of allowing them to lean forward with their full body weight.
