Our Sugar Skull dog collar is named for Xolo, short for Xoloitzcuintli. Xolo are revered as Spirit Guides in Mexican culture. Playing a large role in the afterlife as guardians, Xolos are celebrated during Día de Muertos, the vibrant, spiritual festival honoring loved ones who have moved on from this world, but continue to live on strong in the memories, hearts and souls of those who love them.
Celebrated on the 1st and 2nd day of November, the Festival pays respect to those who are no longer with us, while embracing the gift of life, and rejoicing limitless love- so powerful that it continues to be felt, shared and expressed for all time.
Of course, like the symbolic Xolo, the sentimental value of our beloved perros don’t expire once the festivities end, as many of us know all too well.
Each of our animal companions that we’ve cared for within our lifetime, those who walk along with us now, and those who have crossed the rainbow bridge-
We carry with us, their love. Always.
Choose from premium solid brass or silver hardware. The silver slides are nickel-plated solid brass and the D-ring is nickel-plated welded steel.
This collar is available in 1″, 1.5″ and 2″ widths. Collar style options are martingale, buckle martingale, side-release (1″ and 1.5″ only). The 2″ version of the collar will have a narrow top and bottom border that matches the lining fabric, and is available ONLY as a martingale. The buckle hardware for this width is very large and does not meet our comfort and aesthetic standards.
Add a matching velvet sugar skull dog leash to match your collar and complete the set!
